These have just dropped to an amazing £129 at Dab.com. Down today from £177.

Amazing. The 32GB version was over £200 a month ago.

If its as good as the Zen 32gb its a brilliant device. I have had my 4gb for about a year. Great video, superb sound and very stable software. The Zencast podcast software is good too I even use it with my Archos.

It is it leaves the Archos standing, good volume, absolutely no background hiss / static etc. My only problem with it is the controls are a bit rough and need firm handling. I would have no hesitation in recommending Zen and the new WiFi version must be going some to improve on the one I have.

I use pocketdivxencoder and the Archos AV400 setting to convert any video files (same video res as the new Mobile BBC iplayer) It gives a very sharp and clear picture on the small screen.

It also have an FM radio with multiple presets, plays DRM protected files, long battery life, great built quality and as you say great sound. If it recorded TV and had a web browser I would dump the Archos and revert to Creative. Sadly they dont :(

I remember reading somewhere before that the button were an absolute nightmare to use, and that the way the keypad was designed made typing anything a complete PITA. Is this the case? It put me off looking further into them at the time.

The controls are just a bit small and "clicky" OK if you have slender fingers but a bit fiddly else, but that is being really picky and its the only thing I can criticise it on. If the wifi version has the same keypad for typing as the Zen then yes it will be a bit of a PITA. but no worse than a mobile phone (at least mine!) you have to use the wheel button to manoeuvre through the alphabet so its slow, not a problem on the Zen as you only use it to set the fm presets, but if your messaging it could be a real problem.

One the best features I really love to 32GB Creative Zen X-Fi is the Built with X-Fi technology, I mean you listen to audio in crystal clear clarity.
